A Notice of Thanks
A Notice of Thank You
The two people that I want to give thanks to are Catherine Wolpert and Elizabeth Santacruz. These two people have inspired me to believe in who I am and what I do as a professional, friend, leader and as a mother. They have taught me a great deal of encouragement and I want to commend them on a job well done. I hope that they keep up the good work, keep the faith that they have and great things will come their way. May God continue to keep them and bless them.
Thank you,
Fhameka Lewis

Examining Codes of Ethics
Examining Codes of Ethics
NAEYC Code of Ethics
I-1.10-To ensure that each child's culture, language and ethnicity and family structure are recognize and valued in the program.
"This ideal is important to me because our schools now have children of different diversities and we, as teacher have to implement their culture in our daily plans as well and provide services that will coincide with their beliefs and family morals".
P-2.1-We shall not deny family members access to their child's classroom or program setting unless access is denied by court order or other legal restrictions.
"This ideal is important to me because as a professional it is my belief that all parents and families should be involved with their education and should have the right to visit their child's center at all times. It is the engagement of the parents that helps us teach children, but on the other hand if a court order or legal documents then it is our job as professional childcare teacher and providers to honor those documents".
DEC (Division for Earl Childhood) Code of Ethics
We shall be responsible for protecting the confidentiality of the children and families we serve by protecting all forms of verbal, written and electronic communication.
"This ideal is important to me because being a professional means abiding by the rules of conduct. All information that is obtained by teachers should be kept in a locked file and shared only with parents, unless permission is given by the parents to share this information with other professionals. It is our duty as childcare teachers and providers to honor the privacy act that protects our children and families".

A slogan that is used at my job setting " Learning Years are Early Years"
www.fhamekalewis.blogspot.com
My favorite childhood story is the Ugly Duckling. I like this story because no matter how much the little duckling was teased and talked about. He knew that he was ugly but in the end he turned out to be a beautiful swan. This story teaches us not judge a person outside, it's what's on the inside that counts.
A few years ago I was talking to a child and he was talking about his dad. He said that his dad left because he didn't want him and his mom anymore. He asked me why did his dad leave him and for once I had no answer for him. I felt helpless. The child look as if he wanted to cry but he just didn't know that I was crying for him on the inside.

Grandmother- my grandmother was the backbone of our family. She was the one that kept us in line. My grandmother made sure I was up every morning for school. She made sure there was a hot meal waiting for me when I came home. My grandmother was there to guide me through every step I needed to know growing up as a young woman.
Mother- My mother was a single parent, so of course she did what she had to do to make ends meet for me and my siblings. My mother was there whenever she could be. She was a good provider and caregiver. She made sure that we got the best in life. All that my grandmother didn't teach me she was there to finish the job. My mother was different from other parents. She gave her love in different ways. She was never able to come right out and say that she loved us, but we knew that she did.
My siblings- My two sister and one brother was great supports. We were so closed until we shared each other pain. We made sure that one was never left out. We never went anywhere without the other. No matter what the situations may be the support and comfort was always there.
Dad- My dad supported me when ever he could, even though he lived far away from me, he called occasionally. I know he meant well. As a parent doing his part, he would always pick me up during the summer so that he could prove that he was a caring father. He wasn't always able to give me everything that I needed but he always gave me his love and support.
Childhood friends- I didn't have many friends growing up. I was guess what you called a loner. I did everything by myself. I had only one friend and she was just like a sister to me. We met in kindergarten had been friends every since. We attended all our classes and breaks together. and whenever she wasn't at school then I was all by myself. The children at my school wasn't very friendly, well some of the m wasn't. They like to teased you if you didn't have the finer clothes or things that they had. But in the end everything worked out fine.
